Wax is warm, infinitely malleable, a slave only to heat: melting, then softly hardening into a matrix of color, with great depth and luminosity.

Many of my encaustic works combine the radiance of wax with the patina of rusty found objects. The wax and the rust seem comfortable together, creating a shared mysterious syntax.

I hope that my encaustic pieces encourage viewers to see beauty in things — like rusted objects — that are not traditionally thought of as beautiful. It is an exciting aesthetic jolt to the senses, looking anew.
